The Academy of the Arabic Language in Chad, in cooperation with the Africa-Arab Cultural Institute in Bamako, King Faisal University and the Higher Institute for Communications and Technology, organized the first international conference under the theme: “Arabization in Chad, Methods - Impediments - Solutions) from 16 to 18 December 2020, N’Djamena - Chad, under the aegis of the Advisor to the President of the Republic of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Chairman of the Board of Directors of King Faisal University, Dr. Massar Hussein Massar, who delivered the opening and closing statement of the ceremony, in the framework of celebration of the International Day of the Arabic Language, which thematic discussed issues relating to Bilingualism, Arabization and Arabic education in Chad. The event gathered university professors, researchers, intellectuals, professional of culture and media, delegations from neighboring countries and the public. Valuable scientific papers were presented dealing with issues of the Arabic language in Chad. Dr. Mahamat Adoum Koulbou, Deputy Director General of the Africa-Arab Cultural Institute presented a paper titled: “French and Arabic in Chad: the factors of the linguistic conflict, its outcomes, and ways of civilizational reconciliation”. Dr. Koulbou also addressed the closing ceremony of the conference, in which he reviewed the goals and activities of the Institute and expressed the importance of the partnership with the Arabic Language Academy in promoting Arab culture in Africa. The conference received wide coverage from the local and regional media.
