Signing a partnership agreement between the ULSHB and the AACI

On 27 June 2018, the headquarters of the Institute hosted the signing ceremony of a partnership agreement between the Africa-Arab Cultural Institute (AACI) and the Université des Lettres et des Sciences Humaines de Bamako (ULSHB)-University of Arts and Humanities of Bamako.

The convention was signed on the side of the Institute by Dr Mahamat Adoum DOUTOUM, Deputy Director General of AACI and on the ULSHB side by its Rector Professor Macki SAMAKE.

The Deputy Director General of the Institute in his address thanked the Rector for his personal commitment in the conclusion of this convention and apologized for the signing delay due to circumstances beyond his control.

He added that the signing of this convention is part of the dynamic of consolidating partnership with higher education institutions, research and study centers and organizations working in the field of culture in the member states of the Union African and League of Arab States.

In line with the resolution of the 4th Africa-Arab Summit in November 2016 in Malabo-Equatorial Guinea, which recommends the AACI to diversify its relations by signing cooperation agreements with several universities and research centers in Africa and in the Arab World, the Institute has signed an MoU with institutions among others:

  • The Center for African Studies, Mohamed V University, Rabat, Morocco
  • The Association of Arab Universities in Amman, Jordan,
  • The University of Maroua (Cameroon),
  • The University of N’Djamena, (Chad)
  • Adam Barka University in Abeche, Chad
  • King Faisal University in N’Djamena, Chad
  • ISESCO, Rabat, Morocco
  • ALECSO, in Tunis (Tunisia)
  • Arab and African Research Institute in Cairo, Egypt
  • The University of Social Sciences and Management of Bamako (Mali), to name but a few.

This convention will enable the two institutions to coordinate their different scientific and cultural activities through local, regional and international conferences and to exchange experiences and visits, to participate in seminars, conferences, workshops and training sessions organized by each party.

It will also enable both parties to co-operate in holding symposia, training and workshop sessions, as well as in the development of scientific studies and research, the publication and translation of works in areas of interest and other activities in promoting research, strategic studies and culture in the light of the two bodies’ action plans.

As for the Rector Professor Macki SAMAKE he stressed the importance of signing this convention aimed to strengthen the ties of cooperation between the two entities in particular through the support of the Arab Department of the Faculty of Arts in the field of manuscript research of Timbuktu, the publication and organization of conferences and joint conferences.

The signing ceremony ended at 10:30 am with posing a family photo.
